“The Total Group will deploy all possible means to show its solidarity with everyone – the victims, their families and the inhabitants of Toulouse – affected by the disaster”.

As the Chairman and CEO of the Total Group promised when he went to the scene on the day the disaster occurred, Total assumed its responsibility as an industrial company without waiting to learn the cause of the explosion.

This commitment necessitated setting up teams to manage compensation payments and works: a multi-disciplinary team of experts and claims managers (300 people), a crisis centre with a staff of 30 people to follow up on “bodily injury” claims and an ongoing liaison with the public authorities and disaster-victim associations. Today, these measures are still being coordinated by a department representing the Group in Toulouse.
